Mentoring FAQs

Mentoring
What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a collaborative, long-term learning relationship where an experienced individual shares knowledge, experience, skills, and other perspectives to help personal and professional growth.

Suggestions are made, rather than providing instructions, and it focuses on empowering the client and unlocking their full potential.

What is the role of a mentor?

To provide safe, objective feedback, share real-world insights from the mentor’s own experience, challenge the client and act as a sounding board to navigate complex challenges, barriers and beliefs, refine goals, and build resilience.

What are the benefits of seeing a mentor?

Mentoring sessions provide a confidential, one-to-one, non-judgemental space for anyone looking for ongoing support, encouragement, and accountability as they move forward in their lives.

These sessions can be beneficial for individuals who have achieved their desired goals and would like regular check-ins to help maintain motivation and focus.

They are also suitable for anyone considering positive lifestyle changes, feeling unsure about their next steps, or simply wanting to talk things through with someone who truly understands.

Judy brings lived experience of both alcohol and substance-related challenges, offering genuine understanding, empathy, and insight without judgement.

Whether your circumstances relate to alcohol, substances, other addictive behaviours, or broader life changes, Judy provides a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and encouraged.

Mentoring is open to everyone, whether you have completed the Live Free Structured Programme, recently left rehab, received support from another service, or are seeking guidance independently.

What happens during sessions?

Sessions evoke awareness and challenge the client’s thoughts, whilst discussing substance(s). Sessions last up to 50 minutes and if the client would like, there is some prep work in between sessions (this is discussed in the Chemistry Call).

What substance(s) do you focus on?
  • Alcohol
  • Cannabis
  • Cocaine
  • Painkillers
  • Tobacco

If you use anything else, you may require medical assistance.

What does the mentor need from the client during a session?

Be yourself! To make sure that a session is well spent with your mentor, the client is expected to come to the session in a quiet and confidential space, where they can share openly and honestly.

I want to start mentoring, what are the next steps?

Great! Go to the home page and click on “Book Your Free Chemistry Call” to arrange a suitable date and time.

This may last up to 45 minutes during which time, you will see if I am right for you and vice versa. This is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and/or expectations from both parties.

I look forward to helping and working with you to live your life with purpose!
